When the 2013 AFCON tournament was getting closer, the then coach of the super eagles, late Stephen Keshi released a list of the squad that would be travelling to South Africa to represnt the country.

Late Stephen Keshi actually included Osaze’s name in the list because the former was the most important player in the squad, but he (Keshi) later omitted Osaze’s name from the list because Osaze who was plying his trade then in the English premier league wanted to be playing AFCON, and still be travelling to England to play in the premier league while AFCON is on-going. This was what caused the fall out between the then super eagles coach, Late Stephen Keshi and Osaze Odenwingie.
