Nollywood actor and film producer Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, has responded to criticism from some of his fans over his open support for music star Wizkid.
Recently, Itele has been actively promoting Wizkid’s songs on his Instagram posts, a move that didn’t sit well with certain fans who are not Wizkid supporters. Many of them flooded his comment section with threats to boycott his movies.
In a post on Instagram, Itele urged his followers to stop the backlash simply because he chose to support his favorite artist. He explained that those who know him understand his habit of wholeheartedly supporting people he admires, and at the moment, he is a proud fan of Wizkid.
He appealed to his genuine supporters not to judge him negatively for his newfound enthusiasm for music, emphasizing that he regularly features songs by other artists as well.
“I’ve been noticing some reactions lately because I’ve been posting Wizkid’s music. To those who feel upset, I want to say this: we shouldn’t attack each other just because I chose my favorite artist. If you know me well, you’ll understand that this is my style. I love something or someone, and I show it openly. That’s how I believe love should be expressed.
For my true supporters, you’ll know that I often use different music on my page, and it’s always been about sharing what inspires me. So please, don’t dislike me for loving Wizkid! And don’t stop loving me for being true to myself.
At the end of the day, it’s all about love and positivity. Let’s spread more of that.
