Damini Ebonoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has really come a long way in his musical journey. The Port- Harcourt born afro-fusion singer rose to stardom in 2012 after dropping “like to party” but got his biggest career breakthrough from 2018 when he dropped songs like Ye, Gbona, and Angelina.

In this article we are going to talk about the 4 solid albums he dropped from 2019 to 2023, and the one that finally made his dream of bringing home a Grammy come true.

Burnaboy said he was going to bring home a Grammy but a lot of critics and fellow musicians mocked him for having a wild dream. However he went on to prove his doubters wrong after finally bagging a Grammy award a few years later.

Now, let’s look at the 4 solid albums he released between 2019 and 2023, and the very album that won him the prestigious Grammy award.

  • African giant (2019)

Burna boy started his beastmode in the music industry after dropping the African giant album in 2019. The album cemented Burna boy’s position at the very top of the Nigeria music industry, and earned him his first ever Grammy nomination the following year which he eventually lost to Beninese-French singer, Angelique Kidjo.

  • Twice as tall (2020)

After losing his Grammy nomination to Angelique Kidjo the previous year, Burnaboy channeled his anger to good use by going into the studio to cook up a very solid album which he referred to as Twice as tall”

Twice as tall album got another Grammy nomination which Burna Boy went on to clinch it, and finally achieved his dream of becoming a Grammy award winning singer.

  • Love, Damini (2022)

The “city boy” crooner delivered a self titled body of work in 2022 which was a success as usual, and got the smash hit break-up inspired single “last last”

  • I told them (2023)

Burna Boy’s resilience and consistency need to be studied in college as he is always dropping solid albums or projects.
