It’s good news that we saw the end of 2023. But it’s rather unfortunate, that there are some people who 2023 saw their end. Amongst these sets of people are celebrities, whose talent in one way or the other, shook the entertainment industry. 

5 Nigerian Celebrities Who Died in 2023

Here is a list of 5 celebrities whose death shocked the world in 2023:

1. Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad)

Out of all the deaths that happened in 2023, Mohbad’s death was the most painful. Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died on September 12, 2023 to a yet-to-be identified cause. Mohbad died at the age of 27, with videos of him being threatened by Sam Larry leaked.

On the other news, It was gathered that Ms Feyisayo Ogedengbe inaccurately administered some drugs to Mohbad which led to his death.

2. Femi Ogunrombi (Papa Ajasco)

Papa Ajasco has been every Nigerian’s “comedy papa” right from childhood.  Femi Ogunrombi died on January 14, 2023, as an actor in the Wale Adenuga’s production. 

His character portrayal was iconic.  Femi has a fat belly and would always hit his head when an unfortunate circumstance happens.

3. Obinna Nwafor (Saint Obi)

Another celebrity that died in 2023 is Obinna Nwafor, who is widely known as Saint Obi. Obi, who passed away at the age of 57 on the 7th day of May, was a veteran actor as well as movie producer. However, it is not known what the cause of his death was.

  All we know is that he starred in movies like “Heart of Gold”, “Take me to Maama”, “State of Emergency”, and many others. 

4. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was a popular Nigerian filmmaker who hailed from Imo state in Nigeria. The actress was dubbed the “Queen of Nollywood Films”, establishing the global ” African Movie Academy Awards”. 

Unfortunately, she passed away on January 9th, 2023 after having a heart-attack. She was 53 years when she died at St. Nicholas hospital in Lagos.

5. Cynthia Okereke

Cynthia Okereke died on July 11th, 2023. She was a talented actress who unfortunately passed away at the age of 53. It is reported that her demise came a year after she was kidnapped. 

Cynthia featured in movies like “Love of Isiuwa” and “Katakata”.
